Fabienne Roulet was deeply involved in crafts from her childhood onwards, and it was partly because of this aspect that she trained as an occupational therapist. Her profession enabled her to combine creativity with intellectual thought and scientific knowledge in the healthcare sector, then to focus on providing services for children. After over 25 years, her need for change and more space for her imagination made itself felt. A variety of courses and experiences strengthened her desire to expand her pottery studio beyond the confines of her apartment in order to pursue her passion.

In her mind, she was able to travel far and wide, simply by holding a piece of clay in her hands!

She particularly enjoys the handiwork involved in creating little bowls, that vary extensively as they are made and which can end up as highly detailed, refined pieces. Some of these will be cured in Raku.

Turning the pottery in this way allows her to produce series of pieces for use as tableware.

Mixed work, using flat slabs or coils of clay, gives her the option of freely shaping her nascent designs. Her plates, vases and other unique pieces are the product of this work, which has no creative limits.

She has chosen to work in stoneware clay. She works with decorations using engobes and the simplest enamels possible. "I also mix different clays to play with their fascinating colours."
